Schedule: Allied Health Services participates in a six-day rota that includes evenings, weekends and public holidays
Salary Grade: $83,780.26 (approx £67,420)
The successful candidate is responsible for evaluation, planning, directing, and administering programmes of therapy following referral from a physician in our Rehabilitation Day Hospital.
Key responsibilities include:
- meeting productivity standards set by the department for direct patient contact and other related non-patient contact duties
- performing an appropriate assessment on all in and/or outpatients following referral; use objective clinical measures to identify problems and formulate treatment plans based on realistic stated goals; carry out specific therapeutic interventions as indicated
- supervising and delegating specific written treatment plans to aides, assistants, and/or students
- observing and evaluating treatment effect; communicating patient progress or lack of to appropriate staff and physicians
- maintaining patient documentation using the appropriate electronic medical record, ensuring documentation meets current standards and policies; prepares specific clinical reports as requested
- keeping accurate and timely statistics of both direct and indirect time spent and prepares specific clinical reports as required
Qualifications &/ registration required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required with certification, if applicable, in jurisdiction of training
- 1 – 2 years post-graduate experience in a related Occupational Therapy environment, preferably within a hospital
- Willing to obtain local registration to practice with the Council for Allied Health Professions (CAHP) and meet all re-registration requirements
- Experience with evaluation, treatment and management of upper extremity and hand an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
- Flexibility and creativity to accommodate the needs of the patients, careers and Rehabilitation Team
- Diplomacy, ability to delegate and supervise assistants, aides, and students
