Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing for Labor & Delivery to lead a high-performing team at a respected hospital. In this 24/7 leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across a 40–50 bed unit with over 140 staff members. This is a career-defining opportunity for a confident L&D nursing leader ready to build strong teams, foster accountability, and drive measurable results in both patient and staff satisfaction.

Reporting to the Senior Director or CNO, you’ll act as a liaison between physicians and clinical teams, manage unit operations, and spearhead quality and process improvement initiatives. We’re looking for a leader who can engage, mentor, and elevate a team—while setting the tone for exceptional care in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across all L&D unit functions

  • Direct, coordinate, and delegate patient care activities throughout the hospitalization process

  • Manage staffing, budgeting, quality improvement, and compliance efforts

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery

  • Develop and mentor team members for professional growth and high engagement

  • Assess and implement performance improvement strategies

  • Promote a culture of accountability, compassion, and collaboration

  • Foster strong employee engagement while maintaining high patient satisfaction


Qualifications

  • BSN required

  • Current RN license

  • Minimum 5 years of L&D clinical experience in an acute care setting – required

  • Minimum 2 years of L&D leadership/management experience in an acute care setting – required

  • Proven ability to lead large teams and manage complex, high-volume departments

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a results-driven mindset

  • Must demonstrate experience in improving patient outcomes and employee engagement

  • Familiarity with Studer principles and a coaching leadership style is a strong plus
