Position Overview
Our client is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join their Community Intellectual Disabilities Team at the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, client-centered assessments, develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Meet productivity standards set by the department for direct patient care and related non-patient duties.

Conduct comprehensive assessments for all referred inpatients and outpatients, using objective clinical measures to identify needs and set realistic, achievable goals.

Develop and implement tailored treatment plans and deliver targeted therapeutic interventions, ensuring a client-centered approach.

Supervise and delegate treatment plans to aides, assistants, and students, providing guidance and oversight.

Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting interventions as necessary, and communicate outcomes to relevant staff and physicians.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with current standards, including clinical reports and required statistics.

Contribute to service improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery and quality of Occupational Therapy within the team.
Qualifications & Registration

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.

1–2 years post-graduate experience, preferably within a hospital or similar healthcare setting.

Local registration with the Council for Allied Health Professions (CAHP) and compliance with re-registration requirements.

Experience working in psychiatric care and with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Strong organisational skills, creativity, and flexibility to meet diverse patient needs.

Ability to supervise and mentor assistants, aides, and students.
