Director of Surgical Services

Location: Round Rock, TX
Schedule: Full-time | Days (No Weekends)
Compensation: Salary depending on experience + 15% Bonus
Sign-On & Relocation Bonus: Negotiable
Reports to: Administrative Director of Surgical Services
Direct Reports: OR Manager & SPD Manager | Total FTEs: ~70

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead our perioperative team in delivering exceptional, safe patient care while ensuring operational excellence. This leader will have 24/7 accountability for the Operating Room (OR) and Sterile Processing Department (SPD), overseeing a high-performing team in a Level II Trauma Center with 11 ORs (2 more coming in 2025), 1 GI Lab, robotic capabilities (DaVinci XI x2 & Mako), and a Top 50 Cardiovascular Program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the surgical services team with a focus on safety, efficiency, and patient-centered care

• Drive employee engagement and retention through effective leadership and coaching

• Manage day-to-day operations, budgets, quality initiatives, and performance improvement efforts

• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance (Joint Commission, CMS, etc.)

• Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, patient safety measures, and service improvements

• Build strong relationships with physicians, staff, and hospital leadership to align department goals with hospital strategy

• Participate in hospital-wide initiatives, committees, and leadership rounding

• Identify, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the department

• Support the launch of additional OR capacity and cutting-edge surgical technology

Qualifications:

• Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • Current RN license in good standing

  • 3+ years in surgical services leadership or equivalent experience

• Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field

  • CNOR or CSSM certification

  • OR Nurse Manager background
