Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Mother/Baby Care Unit, overseeing the Postpartum and Newborn Nursery environments. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with a strong clinical background and proven leadership skills in an acute care setting. This role is responsible for ensuring patient safety, care quality, staff development, and operational efficiency while supporting the organization’s mission and strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Mother/Baby Unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, age-appropriate, and developmental care for postpartum patients and newborns.

  • Utilize critical thinking within the RN scope to support patient care and staff decision-making.

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and continuity across settings.

  • Develop and implement Women’s Health-specific initiatives and process improvement strategies.

  • Manage departmental functions including staffing, budgeting, payroll, capital planning, and physician relationships.

  • Supervise multiple levels of personnel and maintain a culture of engagement and professional growth.

  • Act as a liaison between the hospital, community, and other institutions.

  • Integrate effective communication and information management in daily operations.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of recent acute care leadership experience in a Mother/Baby Unit (will consider 2+ years with strong supervisory experience and process improvement engagement).

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license.

  • Current BLS provider card (AHA or American Red Cross).

  • NRP certification required.
