Occupational Therapist – Intellectual Disabilities
Salary: $83,780.26 approx £65,900 – almost tax free

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Intellectual Disabilities team. In this critical role, you’ll provide essential therapeutic and crisis support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide first-line crisis intervention, assessing clients’ mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing, and referring to physicians when necessary.

• Serve as an advocate for clients with government agencies, employers, and other services.

• Screen and assess new referrals, prioritizing based on urgency.

• Supervise nursing staff and act as a preceptor for community team members.

• Support follow-up clinics, monitor attendance, and provide outreach services via home visits, phone calls, or office appointments as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent.

• Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience in a Nurse Manager or supervisory role within Mental Health Services.

• Familiarity with the Mental Health Act is desirable.

• Current registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council.

• Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment substance abuse screening.
